Christie Clinic Department of Urology Now Offering Rezum®

9/25/2017

Christie Clinic’s Department of Urology is pleased to announce they are now offering Rezūm®. Rezūm is the newest technology in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – a localized enlargement of the prostate gland in aging adult men.

Rezūm is a transurethral thermal therapy used to combat symptoms of BPH such as frequency, urgency, irregular flow, weak stream, straining and getting up at night to urinate. Using a hand-held device, Rezūm delivers radiofrequency generated thermal therapy, in the form of water vapor, directly to the extra prostate tissue. Within two weeks, patients begin to experience noticeable symptom improvement.

The procedure is minimally invasive and does not require general anesthesia. An appointment takes an average of two hours and includes a pre-treatment discussion, pain medication, the procedure and post-procedure consultation. Rezūm can be done in-office or outpatient therapy and patients can return to their regular activities within a few days.
