Christie Clinic Receives MRI Accreditation from American College of Radiology

12/30/2010

Christie Clinic’s Department of Radiology (Life-Imaging) has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). They will receive a framed plaque for their waiting area to showcase their accredited status.

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed.

The process assures patients, referring physicians, and others that magnetic resonance imaging at accredited facilities are only performed by well-trained and competent personnel using properly functioning equipment.

Christie Clinic has already been awarded for accreditation in CT and mammography services.
