Sara Royston James, MS, MD, PhD, DABA, joins Christie Clinic Department of Spine & Pain Management

Christie Clinic welcomes Dr. Sara Royston James to the Department of Spine & Pain Management located at 101 W. University Ave in Downtown Champaign. Dr. Royston James specializes interventional pain management, cancer pain management and anesthesiology. She utilizes a comprehensive approach and the most advanced interventional techniques to treat disorders and improve her patients’ everyday lives.

Dr. Royston James attended Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts for her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavior. She then went on to earn her master’s degree in biology from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut and her PhD from the Neuroscience Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Dr. Royston James continued her education and received her medical degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Royston James completed her residency in Anesthesiology and subsequent fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Harvard Medical School. During her fellowship, she received additional training in cancer pain management at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
