In the Department of Internal Medicine, Dr. Russell provides comprehensive medical care for patients 18 years and older with a focus on preventative and holistic health care, mental health and geriatric medicine.
I first became interested in a career in health care through the direct impact I saw that my mother, a child health nurse, had on individuals in the rural Australian community I grew up in. In addition, I thoroughly enjoyed learning about biology, physics, and chemistry in school. Because of my love of science and desire to help others, I was inspired to become a medical doctor to have a lasting influence on the lives of people in my community.
I am a big AFL (Australian Football League) fan. Never heard of it? Think of it as a mix of American football, basketball and soccer. I closely follow my favorite team, the West Coast Eagles every weekend. I also enjoy traveling, trying new and local food spots, and spending quality time with my partner Rileigh and our two energetic cats Archie and Nova.
I chose to focus on primary care as I believe the diversity of clinical challenges, strong community involvement, and personal satisfaction that come with the long-term comprehensive and personalized care of patients is deeply fulfilling.
